The mayor shelled out $7.48 million of his own money on his failed bid to abolish partisan primaries.
"The move to eliminate party primaries was the political equivalent of the film 'Gigli,'" said Forrest Taylor, chief of staff to City Council Speaker Gifford Miller, a likely mayoral candidate.
