Movie Review 12
Cold Mountain (Rating: 4)
Although I had seen many bad reviews and rumors about Cold Mountain, I was anxious to see this movie. The plot is interesting, acting is good, and every scene is beautiful. However, it is not so memorable movie compared to last year's Oscar movies such as The Hours and Pianist.

Jude Law went to the Civil War as a Confederate soldier. His sort of girlfriend, Nicole Kidman was left in a village of Cold Mountain, waiting for him. While he tried to go back to Cold Mountain through many enemies, Nicole was struggling to keep her father's farm neat with a help by Renee Zellweger. Although the war was nearly over, it still cast shadow between them.

Nicole and Jude Law were great. Some people may not agree, but I think Renee Zellweger was the problem. I like her, but she might be miscast for this movie. And there is no reason to give Natalie Portman such a meaningless role. She deserves more!! OK, here I predict that neither Golden Globe nor Oscar will go to this movie unfortunately, although it's much better than Mystic River.
