Go Chirac!

W's French stew
Prez swallows pride, meets & eats with Chirac
DAILY NEWS

PARIS - President Bush spent four hours yesterday with French President Jacques Chirac. That was four hours more than Bush preferred.

The two presidents papered over their frosty relationship with diplomatic niceties at a joint press conference in the Elysee Palace, then had dinner together. But there's no denying Bush and Chirac don't get along, or that tensions between the two run deeper than the profound differences over Iraq policy between America and France.

Even their official dinner ended about 25 minutes early.

Bush is none too pleased that Chirac invited German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder to participate in today's D-Day remembrances. Many Bush aides believe Schroeder, who sided with Chirac in torpedoing UN support for the Iraq war, was invited in order to annoy Bush.
