DAILY NEWS 6/25
A Senate photo session turned ugly this week when Vice President Cheney cursed out a Democratic senator.

"Go f--- yourself," Cheney told Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.), according to Senate sources, after the two men had a brief but heated exchange on the Senate floor.

6/26
WASHINGTON - An unrepentant Vice President Cheney begrudgingly admitted yesterday that he cursed at Sen. Pat Leahy and bragged that he felt good about it.

A smirking Cheney tried to sidestep the issue of whether he launched the F-word, first saying with a laugh he "probably" did.

But when Fox News' Neil Cavuto pressed him on whether he regretted his choice of words, the venom-tongued veep added, "No. I said it, and as I said, I felt better about it afterward."

Movie Review 23
Harry Potter and Prisoner of Azkaban (Rating: 4)

As I hoped, Cuaron was much better at directing than Columbus. Still, as I sort of expected, it was not so satisfying me as I wish it could have. Some details are missing, which would definitely confuse those who didn't read the book. Some scenes run so quickly, which would likely leave kids behind. Some characters are gone or cut short such as Oliver Wood, Percy (only his voice I heard), Mr. Filch (was he there?)...

Having said that, I think it was good that the director focused on the main three characters to save time. On the other hand, why should he have shortened the hour to only 2 hours?? If it was 3 hours, it would be much better.

As for characters, they are really changed. The most surprising was Goyle (or Crabbe, which I can't tell). He is not supposed to be that thin and cool. And Hermione is dangerously pretty!!! Very dangerous!! Harry is boring. I thought new Dumbledore was just fine. Prof. Lupin is my favorite character in the book, and the Lupin in the movie is also good. Emma Thompson is bloody funny, but she shows up only for 5 minutes or so. We need Extended Version, yo!!

Compared to Harry 1 & 2, there are also fabulous parts. I was very impressed by the change of Hogwarts. In the 1 & 2, they show just inside of castle or classrooms. But in the Azkaban, we can see the huge 3D angle of Hogwarts school. We can feel the entire structure of the school.

Also interesting was reaction between Hermione and Ron. Cuaron tried to emphasize their 'lovely' relationship although I found it exaggerated. Buckbeak was so COOL!!

OK, it's getting no more review than my damn scrawl.

DAILY NEWS

Wilson Research Strategies, a Virginia-based marketing and consulting firm, recently polled 1,000 American adults - wanna-be wizards of all political stripes - to find out which of Harry's magical powers they'd want to have.

Harry's invisibility cloak was the most desired of the Potter powers: chosen 29% by Democrats (to sneak into voting booths?), to 21% by Republicans (maybe they learned their lesson from Watergate).

The second-most-coveted power was the ability to transmogrify - change into other creatures - with 24% of the Dems wishing they had this power. Maybe that way, John Kerry could turn into Bill Clinton. (Note: It should be transfiguration)

Harry's flying broom was most popular with Republicans (12%), as opposed to 11% for Independents and 8% for Democrats. (With gasoline prices so high, a flying broom might be useful, but is it legal in New York?)

The power to scare off Dementors(soul-sucking spirits who hunt for Sirius Black in the movie) ranked high with Democrats (12%), while GOPers preferred it by 11% and Independents by a mere 1%. Could it be the Dementors carry an uncanny resemblance to the vote-sucking powers of Ralph Nader?
Ok, it's scary...

Dr. Justin Frank's "Bush on the Couch": Based on his applied psychoanalysis of Dubya's life, the White House is occupied by an "untreated ex-alcoholic" with paranoid and megalomaniac tendencies.

-Bush shows an inability to grieve - dating back to age 7, when his sister died. "The family's reaction - no funeral and no mourning - set in motion his life-long pattern of turning away from pain [and hiding] behind antic behavior," says Frank, who contends Bush may suffer from Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.

-His mother, Barbara Bush - tabbed by some family friends as "the one who instills fear" - had trouble connecting emotionally with her son, Frank argues.

-George H.W. Bush's "emotional and physical absence during his son's youth triggered feelings of both adoration and revenge in George W."

-Bush has shown a "lifelong streak of sadism," ranging from "childhood pranks (using firecrackers to explode frogs)" to "insulting journalists, gloating over state executions ... [and] pumping his fist gleefully before the bombing of Baghdad."

-Bush's years of drinking "may have affected his brain function - and his decision to quit drinking without the help of a 12-step program [puts] him at far higher risk of relapse."

Frank's recommendation? "The sole treatment option - for his benefit and ours - is to remove [him] from office."

Go Chirac!

W's French stew
Prez swallows pride, meets & eats with Chirac
DAILY NEWS

PARIS - President Bush spent four hours yesterday with French President Jacques Chirac. That was four hours more than Bush preferred.

The two presidents papered over their frosty relationship with diplomatic niceties at a joint press conference in the Elysee Palace, then had dinner together. But there's no denying Bush and Chirac don't get along, or that tensions between the two run deeper than the profound differences over Iraq policy between America and France.

Even their official dinner ended about 25 minutes early.

Bush is none too pleased that Chirac invited German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder to participate in today's D-Day remembrances. Many Bush aides believe Schroeder, who sided with Chirac in torpedoing UN support for the Iraq war, was invited in order to annoy Bush.

'P. Diddy' Calls J.Lo His 'Girl for Life'
Monday June 7 AP

Sean "P. Diddy" Combs... says Jennifer Lopez is his "girl for life," even after her surprise weekend wedding to Marc Anthony. The hip-hop mogul, who had a two-year relationship with Lopez, said he's glad his ex has found love with someone new, but added that she'll always be important to him.

But dancer Cris Judd, Lopez's second husband, said he was surprised to learn that she'd married Anthony, the Latin singer she first dated in 1999. "She did?" Judd asked, then added, "You know what? I wish her and Marc the best and hey, if it's true to her heart then by all means."

And the man who could have been husband No. 3, Ben Affleck, gave the union "two thumbs up," according to US Weekly.

This is the third marriage for the 34-year-old Lopez the first was to waiter Ojani Noa in 1997, the second to Judd in 2001. Noa lasted a little more than a year; Judd for nine months.
